Brabham BT46, Tamiya 1/20

Another one finished...

The kit is as old as I am, but still good (except for the exhausts and the front tires - the tires on the current reissues are much better, so if you want better tires order some tire bags of the Lotus 78/79 kits (if you have a stencil for the markings). That the cowling doesn't fit 100% is my fault - the fuel distributer is a mm too high - if you plan to do one, let the lines go out to the sides, not the top...

Painted with Zero Rosso 70-80 and Alclad, I used Future as clear, the blue ares are decals.

I made new rear dampers, added some wires and the rods to the front cooler. The visor was made from old negative film.

It's not bad, but I'm not totally satisfied, when I see the finished car I always find things where I think, I could have done better, but was not patient enough...

Awesome job, ihave to build mine sometime. What red did you use? Also on the real car are the white panels on top of the rear deck some kind of filter? Tamiya just makes it white decal. mine also camwithh declas fr an alternate paint scheme.

Beautiful build of (IMO) an ugly car.

I used Zero Paints Rosso 70s-80s, meant to be the Ferrari colour of that time, but it looked good to me for this one, too. I's definitely not Rosso Alfa.
Those panels are meshes in the real car, so if you want to add detail cut the out and add the meshes, but be careful there's not much space under the cowling...

Re: Brabham BT46, Tamiya 1/20

Another great build from you.
Looks great. I have to build this one too (somewhere/sometime in this lifetime). I'm going to build Nelson Piquet's car.

One question concerning the Future polish you've used.
Where did you buy it?
I'm considering using it too, but it seems that the formula for Future differs from country to country. That has put me off buying some here in the Netherlands.
As I'm living very close to the German border, getting Future from Germany won't be a problem for me.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Brabham BT46, Tamiya 1/20

Well... I got it from someone on the German Forum who got himself some bottles from the US and sold those he didn't need....
