The fuel pump should be in the tank. I'd use a gage and check fuel pressure, first. Then check voltage and ground at the fuel pump connector for the pump motor, engine cranking.

The pump is in the tank toward cab side of tank, If it needs to be replaced the easiest way to do it is to remove 3 screws around gas cap, so the filler tube is loose from bed, Take out tail lights and unhook tail light wire bundles from bed. Take out the six bed bolts Then get a strong friend and lift the bed off. The fuel pump sits right on top of the tank. Ive done it by dropping the tank from underneath. but unless you like eating dirt and spending extra time it took about 4 hours to take bed off compared to 6 for dropping the tank, Put the complete fuel pump assembly in which includes fuel guage sending unit and screen, Does'nt cost much more, A lot quicker
