00 Silverado Headlights

I have a 00 Silverado Z71 4x4 with a 4.8. My head lights will not shut off. There is nothing blocking the sensor. when I turn the key on all my lights come on. I can override them but when I do my DRL's won't come on.

Re: 00 Silverado Headlights

Do your DRL's come on at all? Is it possible that they are burnt out?

NO they were working fine, The headlights are coming on as soon as I turn the key on. Doesn't matter whether it's Day or Night.

I don't have the exact answer.. I would suspect the sensor that produces the signal to the BCM to operate these headlights when it gets dark out. my vehicle over time now puts the headlights on when it is not all that dark out ..

did this suddenly occur ???? if so it may be a relay in the BCM.

Re: 00 Silverado Headlights

Problem solved, Turns out it was the Ambient Light Sensor on the dash. Got a new one from the dealer ($13.82) replaced it. Everything is back to normal. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Re: 00 Silverado Headlights

Yeah, It was fairly easy to do. Sad part is if the wire was about 6 inches longer you could do it with out taking the top of the dash off.
