Fuel gauge problems.

Hi all,

I have a 2002 Buick Regal LS. The fuel gauge just starts acting up weirdly. When I accelerate, the fuel gauge goes up to nearly full. When I stop, e.g. at red lights, the needle slowly returns to the correct position. I don't think it's a problem with the instrument panel as when I turn the key to off, the gauge also returns to zero. As I searched the forum, it's probably a problem with the fuel level sending unit. I found a very helpful thread here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/t572...fuel_gage.html

Now, do I need to do any other tests to make sure that the problem is with the fuel sending unit or do I just go ahead and replace it? Another question is that the sending unit from gmpartsdirect.com is nearly $120 where the full assembly (Bosch 67390) from Amazon is only $164. Should I just replace the whole assembly as with $50 more I have a new pump? Any ideas about the quality of this Bosch unit?
