Pictures of Penske #12
I have finally had the time to post a few pictures of the completion of my Penske Panoz. I purchased the "cut a way car" from Wire Wheel and I have been slowly getting it race ready.
First I had to make a new dash I did not want to use the old Pi system II I cannot post more than one picture at a time, what am I doing wrong? Tom Whitfield |

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
Awesome... I like that much better than the PI system. Use a photo hosting site like www.photobucket.com and then link them here using [img] tags and they'll show up.

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
I like the layout and how the dash is cleaned up. Great craftsmanship!
I think I'd want the gauges higher and closer to field of view for easy glace/scan.

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
OK let me try this again.
The gages are Auto Meter Sport Comp II Pro Control electronic series. They are really neat because they have a built in warning led light that you can set at what ever minimum or maximum you choose. I have them set exactly within the steering wheel so I can see them at all times ![]() The BBK headers ![]() And the Flowmaster mufflers and heat proofing ![]() And the replumbing of the gas tank along with my special ingredient ![]() ![]() And one more of the interior ![]() Tom Whitfield |

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
My camera angle behind the wheel is a little off, I was standing outside the car sticking the camera in as best I could. Sitting behind the wheel the gages are dead on centered.
Now that I have learned this little posting trick I shall get some more ready. But, it is getting warm outside and we just got a new 25' Bryant boat, and since Riverside Racing is only about 100 ft from the Tennessee River(wonder where that name came from), I think a little boating is in my near future. ![]() So little time and so much to do RTW |

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
Very nice to see one so fresh and clean. What was on the engine before... stock F-body manifolds?

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
Tom,
Beautiful installation. How did you determine the upgrades to the engine? And what is the expected increase in horsepower? Are you doing the work or is it being done at an outside shop? I am considering some upgrades such as these and don't really know what. I have the Penske Panoz #3. David Lee |

Re: Pictures of Penske #12
I am not too sure I should give advice on the engine, this is my first race engine with more than four cylinders.
But I am going with a set of Corvette ZO6 "243" heads, a General Motors Performance Parts ASA cam, modified throttle body and the BBK headers. I have not had it on the dyno yet, but as soon as I do I will post the results. I have been watching the LS1tech.com web site for information and help on the engine. This is the best place I have seen for the LS1 engine. The BBK headers fit perfectly in place of the original Camaro exhaust that were on the engine. I am doing all the work myself, since selling my vintage MG racer I have been enjoying working on this car, the learning curve is quite steep. Spent the day on the lake in my new boat, have to work on the racer later RTW
