1998 Passenger Door stuck in locked position

1998 Astro - the passenger door is stuck in the locked position. Electronic lock hasn't worked for years. Door is in the closed position; how can I get it open?
Can the door panel be removed with the door closed? I have removed the interior handle/arm rest piece and pulling on the rod does not work.

if you know anyone with a slim jim you may get it open that way or you could take it to a lock smith any they get it open may cost you a couple bucks or you can buy your own slim jim at a parts store.

Thanks, I tried that on my way home. My mechanic advised that I will need to remove the passenger seat and take off the door panel. He said it would be a bear but it can be done.
Guess I know how I am spending my weekend

you don't want to let a lock smith open it for you? heck even police get them open. but if wont work i guess you have to go the long route.
