Question should be a easy question

well it should be a easy question for you pro painters ..

well i sprayed my model with 2 mist coasts, and one wet coat.. then i let the model sit for 2 weeks, making shure that the paint was fully cured. i took it into the bathroom today and filled the sink with water and soap and lightly sanded it with 2000 grit sand paper.. no here's my question. after i was done, i ended up with white spots (primer showing) was this supposed to happen or did i sand to hard.. i was barely using any force at all. the white spots are not everywhere, just mainly on the edges. just so you know the model was sprayed with tamiya paint, and i was using wet/dry paper.... thanks for any help with this one guys... jason

Lacquers apply very thin to start with, and 2000 might be too harsh to wetsand with; I've heard that 2800 is about the level for curing primary orangepeel.

Just give it a respray and let it cure again. Should be fine.

Yep, you sanded through the paint. Give it another coat (or two) and let it cure again. Next time put a narrow strip of masking tape on all of the edges. This will remind you to stay away from them, as well as protect them if you accidentally slip.

Wet sanding works much quicker than dry sanding, so stop and check your progress often. After about 10-20 swipes with paper (or less) wipe the surface with a paper towel and you should be able to see your progress.

Try again!!

Should've sprayed another wet coat or two.
