Casting master
Hey All:
I have bought 3 kit's of the same model and every one have the same problem that is a broken, twisted, warped body. I want to build this kit so bad that I have paid top dollar three times trying to get a good body. according to the third seller the body is straight with no problems and if it actually shows up this way I want to pay somebody to cast me at least two more bodies to match the third. if it'd not as said I would like someone to try to straighten one to usable condition and then cast a couple from it. I have tried hair dryer and hot water and can not get one in proper workable alighnment. is there anyone out there that would try this for me? tell me what you need. Photos of the body, do you need to see one in your hands?? I have $$$$ tied up in these things and not one usable. Thank's Miloh. Money within reason is not an issue I just want to build this DAM kit. |

Re: Casting master
You seem to have failed to mention the actual kit.
The guys here have an enormous stash and between us, I'm sure there are likely to be more than one of them around somewhere unless it really is something out of the ordinary. There is also a possibility that the kit was warped to begin with. I know that the Revell re-box of the Porsche 911 GT1 is rarely straight and one of the many failings of the ESCI/ERTL Ferrari 250 SWB is that it has a warped body shell.

Re: Casting master
hmm... ok, that is perhaps something out of the ordinary...
thing is, it's going take a lot of silicone to cast something 1/16 scale (depending on the size of the part of course) and that won't be cheap, maybe even more than the cost of the kit.

Re: Casting master
That's a common kit although I've never had one so don't know how they tend to warp. At this point your probably going to be better off trying to remove the warp with heat than trying to get a good one. A pic is worth a lot more than verbal description. Take some shots of the better one(s). Maybe there's a way to straighten that you haven't tried yet. Polystyrene is a thermoplastic and heat can change anything when applied creatively.
