Known issues with 2006 and newer GP and MPG

I am looking at possibly getting an '06 or newer GP. Can you guys fill me in with some of the issues, things to watch for, and mileage. Thanks.

What model? On mileage it will vary with the engines which you have a choice of the 5.3L V8 in a GXP, SIII 3800 L32 supercharged engine in a GT or the N/A SIII 3800 L26 engine in a base model.

Likely the base model. The GXP's that are around here are all well over 100k miles and I haven't seen any GT's.

Not really many issues. you will have an annoying noise from the intermediate steering shaft. look for the control arm bushings, lower intake leaks, oil pan gasket leaks, pretty much the same as all of the previous generations.

I thought the LIM issue was specific to the 3.1, was it that big of an issue with the 3.8's as well? I have had 2 3.1's in the past and both were a PITA.

yep- they will leak. much easier than the 3.1. half the time. there are probably a few of us that can do it in less than a few hours.
