Transmission problems...

Hi all.
I just bought a 94 skylark from a friend to use as a daily driver (my wrangler is killing me with gas prices!) and am having some transmission issues.
when the car is cold, it drives great, once it is driven for a while and warms up, the transmission stops down shifting when slowing down or stopping, it stays in overdrive and then stalls! i can manually shift it to Neutral to prevent it from stalling, but when i put it back in Drive, it just stalls!

I have been told that skylarks had a notorious transmission problem...so i thought i would see if anyone here knows or have had issues like this! The car is a 4 cylinder and i am not sure what transmission is in it...i believe they all had a 3 speed auto....

Re: Transmission problems...

I would be happy to look into this further for you. In order to do so, I will need the VIN for the vehicle as well as your current mileage. Please feel free to contact me via private message if you would like. Thank you in advance.

Tricia, GM Customer Service.

Re: Transmission problems...

it sounds like you may have a converter staying engaged.
not sure if it has a external plug that you can unplug to verify
it is the convertor locking up or you would need to pull the side
cover off to unplug it
