Fujimi 1/24 Ford GT40 Mk.II 1966 Le Mans 3rd winner
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Another one of my old builds (and I finally figured out how to properly attach photos... I hope). ![]() I love Le Mans cars and the story behind making of GT40, rivalry with Ferrari and the 1-2-3 Ford finish in 1966. This clearly is something no Le Mans freak would miss in his collection. The car number 5, driven by Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson, an all American crew, came in 3rd behind two other GT40s. Definitely a memorable car, not only because of the great finish, but also because of the astonishing gold and pink color scheme. You can love it or hate it and that is why I chose to build it as my first 1/24 GT40. I just hope you like it as much as I do. |

Very nice. One of my favorite versions of the GT40. Great job.

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Ford GT40 Mk.II 1966 Le Mans 3rd winner
Thank you for the kind comments
![]() The gold paint is NEXA Autocolor automotive paint the original Ford recipe from around the mid 60's. Fortunately I have access to automotive paints at work and I try to paint all my builds with the original colours. So if the original was 1-layer acrilic paint I try to find the car manufacturer's code and recipe for it and paint it that way, if it was 3-layer pearl finish I would try to paint it just so. The clearcoat used is also NEXA Autocolor 2 part automotive clear. Unfortunately this build was finished quite a while ago and I don't remember the exact colour code and recipe. Sorry
