Transmission Problem???! 94 Cavalier
I am having a serious problem with my 1994 Cavalier 2.2 Liter automatic, possibly something to do with the transmission...
When I am driving at a constant speed; usually around 50 mph, the car will jerk and not have a smooth drive, feels like theres a lag or delay, and the car hesitates to maintain a smooth drive. Also when I come to stop and ready to drive away, when I push on the accelerator the car will rev up and then shifts hard, almost like the accelerator pedal is being pushed down but the car doesnt move. It feels like it is in neutral and then catches the gear; shifts hard but the car is already in Drive.... I have done a major tune up already: plugs, wires, coils, ignition module. any insight on this problem would help me out greatly, I already have some ideas but I want to know what you think. Thanks again |

Re: Transmission Problem???! 94 Cavalier
yea that sounds like a torque converter issue, maybe a solenoid. have you checked the trans fluid lately? might be worth a diagnostic at aamco or something.

Re: Transmission Problem???! 94 Cavalier
Hey thanks for your input! I took a look at the TCC, and it was done. I installed a new one and the car cruises nicely at a constant speed, no stalls or anything. Appreciate it.
And since you have a sunfire, I was wondering how to take off the PCV valve?? Can you just take needle nose pliers to it? it is seated right inside the valve cover... Thanks again! |

Re: Transmission Problem???! 94 Cavalier
that plastic ring around the pcv unscrews... then you can use some needle nose pliers to pull it out.

Re: Transmission Problem???! 94 Cavalier
My cavalier doesnt have that piece that unscrews, has a sort of jig saw round piece, dont think it turns, its all one piece. I tried pulling out the pcv valve but it wont budge.
And the tcc sits right on top of the transmission near the side cover on the drivers side, you should see a connector going to it. on my cavalier the plug is blue. |
