GT40 MkII Color Question on the Tub.
Two of the restored GT40 MkII's that were prepared at Shelby, #1015 and the Graham Hill Alan Mann car, have been restored with metalic blue chassis. While the photos in the Friedman book would suggest a satin black, I wonder if the use of 'Cobra Blue' on the monocoques would have been done by Shelby.
Is there an answer on this? I am getting ready to do the Trumpeter kit as 1015, with the Best Balsa decals. I am waiting for the ICON resin tires and I am getting ready to order Arcadian Blue from MCW. So, I do not know if I need either a black or a blue for the tub.
Plan to use blue seat belt as this appears in a 1966 color photo of the Hulme Miles car and I will omit the roll cage which is incorrect for 1966 (added for 1967 MkIIB's after the Miles Accident). Also will remove chrome and refinish in Alclad in the appropriate shades.
I have not decided how much replacement or surgury I will plan on the rear suspension. The KA metal parts appear to simply be white metal castings of the original parts, so I am not sure this accomplishes anything.
