Changing door bushings

My Montana is a 2001 and the front door bushings are wearing out. The doors sags a little and hits the latch when closing. It looks like each hings has two small rivets that need to come out. Has anyone done this and have some advice?

Re: Changing door bushings

Check your local Auto parts store for Dorman auto parts section,
they should have the brass bushings and pins that are needed.

Re: Changing door bushings

Thank you for the link, but the Montana has two rivets in each hinge not one long pin. Should I take the hinges off the vehicle or do I chisel the heads off, cut the heads off or is there some other way that would be better?

Re: Changing door bushings

Leave the hinges on body, remove the door, and use a small disk grinder for cutting.

Re: Changing door bushings

For the bolts that hold the hinge onto the door are the nuts welded onto inside of the door frame or is the door frame threaded or will the nuts fall off when taking the bolts out? And what is the best way to support the the door while the hinges are off?

Re: Changing door bushings

The nuts are probably spot welded inside the door.
Make sure you use a good helper, floor jack, or a hoist to hold the drivers door.

Caution - Be careful of the electrical buss line going into the door, it's probably best to disconnect the battery.
