Keyless Remote Entry Replacement?

Hello,

I'm new to these forums, so please bear with me. My keyless remote entry system does not work. I took it to my local dealership, and they tested it. The remote works, but the reciever in the car is dead.

I bought a new keyless remote entry kit from Bulldog Security at a Meijer (pretty much a WalMart) and I have no clue how to hook it up. Anyway I can get help?

-Thank you all in advance.

Re: Keyless Remote Entry Replacement?

You don't need to access your OEM factory receiver if you are wiring in your aftermarket one. You just need to find the right wires (lt blue, and white) in either kickpanel and secure your module under the dash somewhere-

Here is a link to your wiring locations and colors

and you probably will need relays because your doorlocks require a 12v positive activation, (Type A) and your aftermarket system offers only a negative pulse

Confusing, I don't know what you just said. I'm a computer nerd and I know nothing about auto. xD

Re: Keyless Remote Entry Replacement?

In reprogramming my 97 cavalier the door locks would not cycle but the trunk works fine. Does the key need to be in the ignition during the prog. cycle to reset the code for the doors?

Re: Keyless Remote Entry Replacement?

Make sure you are not pressing the brake pedal at any point during the programming procedure.
