Re: mindboggler

Yeah- happened to me once, when it was between 40 and 50 degf, raining, and no matter what setting the defrost was on- and no matter how hot the air, the rear window started to fog, than it wrapped around to the windshield in less than 5 minutes- had to use a towel to clear it off- or wreck..

So what did I find was wrong?........... The recirc door was stuck in recirc- not allowing fresh air into cabin to clear the windshield.

Now, on your truck, can you hear the air flow difference as you cycle between fresh air and recirc (max) air? I'd bet yours is stuck in recirc...

Re: mindboggler

havent really noticed but where would i check that? I am changing the heater core today because of the odor and the coolant i found under my floor mat on the passenger side and i noticed that there are some cables behind the glovebox... would the recirc door be in the same place?

Re: mindboggler

Well, the plot thickens....now that you say you have a heater core leak, that is most likely the problem- you have been blowing coolant mist on your windshield. Is your windshield greasy, smeary? Heater core leaks usually show up first on the windshield, before they do on the floorboard.

Re: mindboggler

Yes sir, I pulled my core out today and that thing was a mess! I replaced it and did find that my recirc door is not operating properly due to a little plastic piece attached to a metal arm is borke and will not open and close the door as it should...

Re: mindboggler

If it is just the arm that is broke-- then a local boneyard- but most of the time it is the door axle that is broken....there are specialty places that offer such tings but....

I did not see the year and model of your vehicle though.....
