Hello All!

I'm new to this site, obviously, and thought it would be good to fellow car enthusiasts. I'm having a problem with cracking on my leather seats in my 04 Mustang. I've tried some of the recommended leather preservation formulas but it hasn't really stopped it. Any suggestions?

Welcome to AF!

What products have you tried?
If the leather is really bad you may need to get it professionally restored.

Thanks!

No its not that bad. I tried Permatex with some success and apparently it was supposed to be the best. I'm thinking of just getting some seat covers to slow down the wear but eventually I want to repair or replace.

Re: Hello All!

Never heard of Permatex, yet to make it to this part of the world.

But, I have seen the Mothers leather care range work really well on old leather, have you tried that?

It should be pretty easy to source in the US, try: http://www.mothers.com/

Also remember the quality of the leather will have an impact on how well it will take to treatment.
I've seen cheap low quality leather crack and dry out in only a few years, and not respond at all to any attempts to repair it.
But, I've seen very high quality leather look like new again after 30 or 40 years.

Re: Hello All!

You should be able to find this product at any auto parts store and maybe even at your local Walmart ! Good luck !

Re: Hello All!

Hi there! Nice to meet you all!
This is just Aaron. I am an accountant from somewhere in UK, and a car passionate and in my free time I repair them. A few years ago I wanted to start a tuning shop but l dropped it... unfortunately. Now I experiment on my car and in the remaining of my free time I give advice on car issues and tuning ideas on advice-me networks...

That kind of sums up what's going on around here... So... see you around
