Keyless Entry Security System

1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport

My Jeep's keyless entry system does not work. I have not used the fob for a few years so I installed new batteries. This made no difference. None of the buttons (lock/unlock/horn) function.

I'm looking for ideas on what things break in this system, and what it takes to fix them.

Thanks,
John

Re: Keyless Entry Security System

Autozone has a device that sits on their parts counter that lights up when you press your remote key fob- this will tell you if yur fobs are transmitting or not-- At least you'll know where to start- My bet is that they are not and you will need new fobs- which can be bought online and your truck programmed to receive them.

The remotes do wear out eventually.

Re: Keyless Entry Security System

Of course they do if you ask them-- but we all know better...that's why they are called "stealerships"

Fobs are transmitters, the receiver is what needs to learn the new Fobs, so just follow the procedure you get when you buy new Fobs...
