Calipers freezing up

I brought my Ram 2500 Conversion van in because they brake pedal was mushy. Mechanic indicated Calipers were leaking and they needed to be replaced. Went to pick-up the vehicle and van was sluggish and could tell there was a problem. Brought vehicle back and was told calipers were froze up because of tainted brake fluid. They added brake fluid to the system when they replaced the calipers. Mechanic said sometimes people i.e. customers add powersteering fluid by mistake instead of brake fluid. Hmm. Am I being sold a bill of goods here or what?

The brake system probably did need a brake flush + bleed, because of moisture.

What year is the van?
Does it have ABS brakes?

Also, if the brakes still feel mushy, change out the hoses between the calipers and the hard-lines. The hoses deteriorate from the inside while the outside look just fine. Bad hoses will lock up or make the calipers stick the pads to the discs.

And BTW, find another shop. Ask around for peoples opinions and read reviews online for your area. It's best to pay a little extra at a reputable shop than going back a few times spending more money at a crooked shop.
