Transmission HELP
I have a 97 Jeep GC with a A500 (42RE) auto transmission. It is slipping on 2nd gear. My question is can I change it out and install an '88 Dakota A500 (42RE/H) transmission?

Re: Transmission HELP
no, because all 1996 and later transmissions use electronic controls. If your transmission is slipping in second gear, adjust your bands. The band adjust for the kickdown band, or 2nd gear, is on the outside of the transmission case, passenger side by the oil filler tube. Get a service manual to see how to do it properly.
