supercharging my 2006 Eclipse

I have a 2006 Eclipse GS with a v4 engine. I am wanted to supercharge it but i am wondering do they make supercharger kits for my engine? if so, what brands are good and what websites could i look on to find them? and would i have to upgrade any other parts of my engine before installing a supercharger? thanks!

This should be posted in the 2000+ Eclipse section. Moved.

Just so you know, you do not have a v4 motor. Its an inline 4.

Re: supercharging my 2006 Eclipse

Yeah i just figured out it was an inline 4 haha and could you please tell me what all of that stuff means? like i dont know what all of the abbreviations mean. and if i put that stuff in my car what effect would it have on engine wear and gas mileage? i bought it used and it has a little over 108k miles already so i dont wanna do something if it will cause too much stress to the engine. and what cost would i be looking at for all of that stuff?

Re: supercharging my 2006 Eclipse

If you have a NA vehicle and want to supercharge/turbocharge it and it has over 100k miles on the motor, you may wanna consider a rebuilt with stronger internals. Most vehicles aren't built to handle somebody just throwing a supercharger/turbocharger on them. I mean, you might be able to get away with it for a little bit, but eventually the motor will crap out on you. If you want a supercharged/turbocharged vechicle, you are best off just buying one and modifying it from there. You will have a lot of time and money invested in doing this with your current vehicle.

Re: supercharging my 2006 Eclipse

He is right, it is much cheaper to buy a car that is already boost factory. However if you still want to supercharge your car you can still do it but you will have to upgrade other things such as the fuel system to make the car run properly. You should be able to run a couple psi without having to worry to much about failure.

Now back to terms, and inline engine has all of the cylinders in line with each other. A V configuration does not have the cylinders inline but is a V configuration. You have 1 crank at the bottom which each piston and rod connect to but from there the cylinders go different ways
