'86 F-250 Batt size! (Needs to be moved!!!)
Hi all,
I have a '86 F-250 with a 460 in it. (I know 351 is the norm but some one decided to swap it out)  I bought the truck thinking that there was a 351 in it and bought a new battery thinking it was a 351. It has been having a little trouble starting in this cold weather, but now we are in a severe cold snap and it does not want to start. Does anybody know what size it should be? I'd post the size I have now but it is a quarter mile away and its -12 outside right now. Any ideas?!

If you need more cranking amps, measure the tray, and put the biggest battery in it that will fit. Do you guys have a local interstate distributing hub? We do, ANY automotive battery is 40 bucks. They are blemishes, but full warranty and I usually can't even find the "blemish". I put two in my powerstroke, and they were 900 cca batteries. Weren't big, I would think they would probably fit. It was a 97 f250 HEAVY DUTY

(update) '86 F-250 Batt size! (Needs to be moved!!!)
I wish I had a battery depot near me but the closest thing I have is a walmart. I checked the cca on the batt i currently have and its 800 at 32 and 640 at 0f...Is this enough or should I be checking something else? Also I don't really have a battery mount per say...it is more of a flat area with a bungee cord.

That should be plenty I would think. Check your cables, both to the solenoid and the starter, then maybe get the starter itself tested, or just replace it, they aren't to terribly expensive. Check your timing too, if it is too advanced it will crank hard because the pressures of combustion are there too soon, the starter is actually cranking against it.....

We use Deka Group 65 in our vehicles. They are 1040 Amp with 850 CCA. Might be worth a check out.
