poor acceleration
Hi,
I have a 1991 Buick Regal that is having a difficult time accelerating. Whether it is in park or drive I can not press on the gas or it will sputter and stall. It will drive, but rarely will it go abover 2k rpm. I checked the engine codes but it only reads 12(normal). Any suggestions? |

Re: poor acceleration
Welcome to AF!!
This sounds like you have a blocked cat. The key here is the fact that it will not accelerate beyond 2K. Given the age of the car I would have it checked! The only other issue may be a fuel issue but if the exhaust is blocked it will choke the engine! |

Re: poor acceleration
2) check Fuel pressure.
3) Install a new air/fuel filter. A catalytic converter back pressure test canbe done @ any local muffler shop. You need plenty of Air, fuel, and exhaust for horse power. |

Re: poor acceleration
Thanks guys, I had the fuel system checked and the pressure was low. I will replace the pump and see if the problem is still there.
