Re: retrieving door unlok code

You said that the sticker is missing numbers... Check the entire trunk lid, including hinges, tension bars (above the spare tire), and the lid itself.

You may be looking at the wrong sticker, and they sometimes affix the sticker in places other than the hinge... But thet's the most common location.

Also, there should be a small plastic card with the number, inside your Owner's Manual pouch.

If you can't find either of those, locate the *"ECM" computer. The # may be on it.
I don't know where the ECM is-- I actually don't even know what it is, and/or does. I just saw it in another post, on a different website

Lastly, if I'm not mistaken, you can go to the dealer and they can extract the factory code via computer. As I understand it, it'll cost around $25 (USD)

Re: retrieving door unlok code

Thanks for all the clues. We bought a 2005 Grand Marq from a family estate sale [Wives Aunt]. We didn't have the door code...So I swing by our local
Ford- Lincoln-Merc dealer. Those clowns must have mistaken me for an idiot as they want to read the code and cut me a brand new key... Wasn't that generous of them all for $130.00

Re: retrieving door unlok code

I purchased an 07 GM used and didn't have the codes and could not find them. Where I purchased the car wanted $45.00 to retrive the codes. I found another dealer who did it for $25.00.
I was told that the numbers were no longer placed in the trunk they had to be read from the computer. So check with different dealers, not all are the same.

Re: retrieving door unlok code

If it's not on one of the trunk arms, under the engine compartment fuse box, or in the Owners Card (obviously you don't have it if you're asking where to find the code). Take the driver door panel off and the code is on a label on the Driver Door Module near the front of the door (near the hinges). This is the factory code and will allow you to erase previously set owner codes and set your own (up to three). Put in factory code, press 1/2 then press and hold 1/2 for at least two seconds to clear codes. Locks will cycle down and up to confirm erasure. Then put in factory code, press 1/2 and enter your desired code. It's usually 4 screws and some careful upward pulling to get the door panel off. Gently remove the armrest switch assembly and disconnect the wiring harness connectors. Reinstallation is the reverse. It took me about 15 minutes last night on my recently purchased 2003 Grand Marquis. This will save you at least a 1/2 hour of shop labor, up to 2 hours if they're going full book time on it.
