2003 corolla only gets 20 mpg
Why is my corolla only getting 20 mpg? There is no check engine light on, so I have no idea why it is wasting so much gas. Any clues?

Re: 2003 corolla only gets 20 mpg
More info is needed.
Does the car start and idle smoothly? Is the idle speed fast all the time or only when it is cold? Does the car drive well with no pulling to one side? Are tires inflated properly? Are tires balanced and rotated and matching brand/model/size (at least front and rear)? Does the exhaust smell like fuel? Is the car sluggish when you accelerate? Do you smell gas when you are near the car after it has been sitting? We'll probably have more focused questions, but these are good starters.
