Loud air like noise, fuel smell, odd idle with check engine light.

So I discharged the A/C system in my 01' Durango and replaced the A/C compressor which came pre-filled with the oil. When I put everything back together it made a very loud noise like air rushing through somewhere and all I could smell was gasoline. It's causing the vehicle to idle weird and it's shaking like crazy. I don't know where the sound is coming from and the check engine light came on. Any ideas?
