2005 Accord 4 cyl Timing chain maintenance
109,000 miles on my car. What type of maintenance needs to be done to this timing chain if any? I know it has a tensioner. Does it need to be checked or adjusted? The manual isnt clear on this. I am changing coolant, serpentine belt, radiator hoses,plugs,....Thanks

Re: 2005 Accord 4 cyl Timing chain maintenance
There is no maintenance for timing chains on honda's. Honda hopes that the chain will last the life of the vehicle, however this is not always the case. When I was a Technician at the Honda dealer I don't think I ever saw a timing chain fail under normal operating conditions. I'm not saying it can't happen but it is highly likely that your chain and tensioner are just fine!!
Unless you are noticing abnormal noises from that area or there are any signs of it failing, don't worry about it. Just continue with all the normal maintenance that should be done at the milage your at. |
