Question Dash Lights Issues

I'm having a strange problems with my 96 Voyager. When the lights are on the dash lights are very dim. When I turn the dimmer switch all the way to the up the postion to turn the interior lights on the dash lights come on bright. Also when I open the a door and the interior lights come on again the dash lights go bright. I've run the test by holding down both the trip and the reset button and there are no problem codes.

The van doesn't really get driven much at night so it's not a big deal but it's strange.

Any advice would be great.

Re: Dash Lights Issues

Probably the dimmer switch. It's built about as cheap as cheap can get.

Re: Dash Lights Issues

I didn't really want to go through all the trouble of taking the dash appart to get the switch out but after having a problem turning the interior lights off and the alarm not going off when the doors were opened I decided to go for it.

I got the switch out and decided to take it inside to give it a good cleaning. When I took the two screws out of the switch The PCB was totally corroded and a few of the circut lines had actually burned away.

I'm assuming that this is the cause but won't know for sure until I get a new switch to install.

Thank you for your input. I'll let you know if there are any other issuses.

On a side note, since I have the dash almost completely appart I'm going to replace the dash lights. I was thinking of putting in LED but can't seem to find any of the pc194 buld in LED. Does anyone know of a source for these?
