Re: Gas leaking from trans area
That is a vacuum hose from what I can see, easy to fix with a section of hose slipped over the old piece then onto the fitting, this has nothing to do with a fuel leak near the trans, you should be able to see the source of that.

Re: Gas leaking from trans area
Look at the connector on the rear of the fuel rail, its extremely common for the O rings in the Elbow to fail and leak...

Re: Gas leaking from trans area
Can you smell gas from the vacuum line? If so, check your fuel regulator.

Re: Gas leaking from trans area
Jrs3800 - The connector you referred to at the fuel rail. I bumped mine the other day and it leaked momentarily. It seems if you press down it will leak, when you let up, it will stop. Is this normal or do the O - rings need replacing? Where can these O - rings be purchased? I don't know if this is the same problem this fellow is having? Thanks

Re: Gas leaking from trans area
sorry guys it took me so long to reply. have a question is there suppose to be fuel comming out of the fuel regulator ? i found out that is why i had gas in trans and in oil. also there waas so much gas in trans that the gas was leaking from the top of trans from the releif valve. so do i replace the fuel regulator ?

Pull the plugs and & clean them (or replace) then turn the engine over to exhaust excess fuel from the combustion chambers. Be sure to keep wires away from the plug holes, as the spark may ignite the gas pumped from the chambers. As mentioned, the FPR has failed & you are lucky the intake manifold did not explode. BTW, there was a recall on Delphi regulators, but for some reason, did not include the 1997, which many came with the same regulator.
