Re: 2004 yukon

Make sure it is unlocked first. Other than that, open the hatch and pull the trim cover off. It is reusable clips, don't worry about it. You can then get to the latch and see if there is something wrong with it.

"Make sure it is unlocked first."

Correct, press the unlock button at the driver armrest. However, I'd recommend to open the entire hatch ONLY. Opening the window portion separately puts a severe stress on the spring, too-short wires to the defroster grid in the window, and the tabs can break off the window all-too-easily. ask me how I know this. At least the special Loctite "Window tab repair kit" did work.

I can attest to the tabs... Right out of the gate, when we bought our Yuke I was washing the back glass and barely hit the left tab and it came right off. I talked to several local parts stores, window shops, and dealerships in the area and you would have thought I asked them to pull a new back glass out of their arses! I gave up trying to find anything local and found frostfighter.com and ordered their tab bonding kit. I just put it back on with it so I can't tell you how it worked, but the two part epoxy is obviously HIGHLY silver containing and conductive. It was expensive ($30), but if it works it will be A LOT cheaper than a new glass like the others said.... It took a couple weeks or more for them to ship it, with little more than a confirmation email might I add. If it works though I would have to say it was worth the wait. I'll post an update...
