Re: Remote Starters

Tim and I both do. Mine is part of the a/m alarm system I got. It's really really nice to have in winter time.

Re: Remote Starters

I install them on the side- have been doing it for 10 yrs. Your biggest obstacle is that you will need a bypass module to temporarily bypass the anti-theft system during the remote start period- since there are no keys in the ignition. The bypass modules can sometimes cost more than the remote start kit. I have them on 5 of my cars- biggest problem is the remote batteries need changed about every two years.

Re: Remote Starters

Stay away from the cheap ones. I have removed many of them that failed making the car not start at all. Got mine from a good store, mine is an audiovox and is in its third car. Got it 15 years ago and still works great.

Re: Remote Starters

Here's some info on the starter in My car. Also a short video of it in action on youtube.

Your 04 is going to be different so keep that in mind. Just shows you how in depth you need to go with wiring.

Re: Remote Starters

I have a Valet 562T Installed in my 97 GPGT. Around $200.00 installed at a local shop. Well worth the time and money...Especially up here in the frozen tundra...

Re: Remote Starters

I would go with Compustar. They are one of the best in the world for a reason. In order to install them you have to go through the company's training. They also stand behind their products no questions asked. Unless something has changed their warranty is good for the life of the vehicle. They are a bit more than the cheap ones from best buy and other places, but it's well worth the money.

At first they told me 189.00 for Avital then when I called back they said 250 because of the bypass but I am not sure about a Avital.

Re: Remote Starters

I heard good things about avital, but the remotes look a little dorky to me. Like miniture space shuttles. But whatever floats your boat I guess, or starts your car in this case.
