Damn tranny bump 2000 windstar

i have a ford windstar 2000 that has had this problem since i had the damn thing,i have tried every damn thing to fix it correct it or silence it and nothing has worked, he goes, all motor and tranny mounts have been checked : 126547 miles, had the van 3 years. i do all the maint work on this van that i can. this problem happens when the van is cold or hot or warm, rain or shine. early or late. van starts right up, put in drive and go, 0 to first gear "BUMP" all other gears changes are "OK" now i start to stop at a light "BIG BUMP" feels like tranny not in sync with engine.also valves sound like they are coming out of the engine, the engine has power and sometime the engine will have power and sometimes it wont. no engine codes will come up. i am at a friggin loss. i hope somebody can help me out, thanks all.

Hi there!

Anybody else thinks he might have a bad torque converter?

When the engine lacks of power have you noticed it reving up more than usual?

Best regards,

Oscar.

Yes, it really sounds like a worn torque converter.

A Windstar without having the check engine light is not a real Windstar.

Re: Damn tranny bump 2000 windstar

I could be, but I hate to direct him to change it without having some diagnostic done by someone experienced and trustworthy.......because it is expensive to just throw a torque converter at the problem.
If this problem is consistant, then a good mechanic should be able to help out in tracking this down......at the very least, eliminating other possible causes.

As a side note, double check those IMRC clips to make sure that both IMRC shafts are connected to the IMRC actuator.
There could be "little" things like that jumping in and complicating the issue.

Could be a valve in the valvebody getting stuck, or worn out. Checkout sonnax.com, there are many upgrades/fixes for that valvebody.
Another thought ,maybe one of the axels? Check the boots on them and make sure they are not torn.
