Exclamation ckp cmp correlation

I just finished changing the motor in a 96 s-10 automatic, now the truck is having a hard time shifting when it goes to shift it feels like im pulling a trailer it will jerk back and forth a few times then it will shift into the next gear. it is also picking up the code p1345 which is ckp cmp correlation could that be what is causing my problem?

When you receive a P1345 code from a Blazer/S10, it means one of two things. A) Your distributor was incorrectly installed (a tooth off, usually,) or
B) Your distributor drive gear is slipping.

I have had both of these problems come into my shop, A being the most common of them all. I went through a few motors in the last six months in 1996-2004 Blazers, and several of them when I put the distributor back in showed a P1345 code. OnDemand5 and AllData both explain in detail that this is usually caused by the distributor being installed "incorrectly", and I quickly fixed this on the first motor, and have had no problems getting them aligned since.

Is your engine a Six or Four cylinder? On six cylinder distributors, you will find two arrows marked on the dristributor housing. One says "8" and the other "6". This is your "Top Dead Center" correlation point. On the upper portion of the distributor drive gear, you will find a dimple, and on the shaft a white paint mark. Align these two marks, it will bring your rotor counter-clockwise from the six mark slightly. Using a paint pen, mark the rotor correlation on the distributor housing. Bring your motor to TDC on the compression stroke, line up the mark on the balancer with your 0 mark or inside the "notch" depending on which timing cover you have, and reinstall the distributor.

When you go to install the distributor, first make note of the oil pump drive on the bottom of the distributor. Take a long flathead screwdriver and turn the oil pump until it is approximately correct for the TDC position on the distributor. Then, position the distributor housing so that it will fit in place with the intake. Then, line up your rotor with the paint marks made from your alignment of the drive gear dimple. You should be able to drop the distributor into place. Once it has seated completely, you will note that your rotor has spun clockwise and is now pointed to the "6" mark in the distributor casing. Tighten down distributor, install cap, wires, etc. Then, give it a try!

Base setting.

Then you will need a engine capable scanner to set the camshaft retart.

After setting it to specs. within -1 0r +1 degree or 0 degrees.

Test drive and let us know how it does.
