Just replaced the IACV on my 2001 E150 XLT ( 5.4, 137 K miles ). Had to do so because it wouldn't maintain idle after sitting in the garage for a few weeks. A number of years ago I had the same problem and carb cleaner did the trick. This time, no dice. So I install the new IACV ( making sure all hoses are reconnected ) and the engine runs like a champ....but at a higher than normal idle RPM - not 'racing' but clearly at higher idle RPM.
