Identify 1960s car please

This car belonged to my best friend's late father and was one of his favorites. I'd like to be able to tell her something about it.

Thanks for your help.

54-56 Pontiac bodys were the same, 57 was the larger finned body style, looks like a 56 with the Star Chief and chrome skirts.

um, that should be 55-56. The 54 was a different body.

I agree on the make and model though

Re: Identify 1960s car please

Actually , I believe the 1955, 56 , and 57 body assemblies were identical as they used the same body's as the Chevrolet's of the era . The ' 57 did have the fins but the main body assembly was the same . Reference post # 4 - http://townhall.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f208d95/0 - " Chevrolet and Pontiac got all new bodies for 1955 and used them through 1957 " .I personally owned a 1954 and it is a different body than the ' 55-57 .

Re: Identify 1960s car please

the car in the photo is 100percent a 1956 pontiac without doubt. 1957 had pointed rear fenders similiar to 57 chevy. 55 56 were very similiar, trim was different. this one has the star emblems on the rear fender, 55's only had them on the front.
