97 gmc Pick up won't start

Got an old beat up Pick up 350 engine I think. Started it the other morning warmed it up for 10-15 minutes. got in and drove 1/4 mile and it stalled, like no gas. I knew I was low but should have gone 20+ miles. Ran home got gas can added 2 gallons. Cranks fine but won't start. I can hear fuel pump running. I checked little schrader like valve in gas line and have fuel. I sprayed in starter fliud and got 2 pops but no running. maybe compression ignited it. I poured in 1 oz gasoline and got same thing 2 or 3 pops when cranking but no start. Seems like no fire. What could this be? any DIY test to verify?

Start by checking fuel pressure you need 65 psi.

2000 GMC Sonoma 4.3L V6 Won't Start

I have a 2000 GMC Sonoma 4.3L V6. The engine will not start without starting fluid. I hooked up a fuel pressure regulator and it only reads 40lbs. of pressure. The manual says it should be 53-60lbs. When i get it started with starting fluid, while driving, it bogs down if i floor it or press the gas pedal down too quickly. Is my problem the fuel pump? Thank you for your help.
