02 GP GT Bogs when giving gas

Got a 02 GP that will start up and idle fine but when you give it any gas it will bog and won't rev past 2000. I have replaced the Convertor,Before and after o2 sensors,fuel filter and cleaned MAF and tried it unplugged and still does the same fuel pressure is good and regulator is good. I took the Ign module to parts store and it tested good and coils ohm out good. No trouble codes ever set either. The exhaust is very gasy like eye burning bad if you hold throttle open and let it bog out a little bit but temp sensor reads right. I am wondering if should just haul it across the scales has me frustrated. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Have you inspected for any vacuum leaks at the engine compartment?

I sounds like a fuel issue to me. What are your fuel pressure readings? Just because fuel sprays out the schrader valve if depressed doesn't mean there is enough pressure. Proper spec is 48-55 psi key on engine off, and should drop 3-7 psi while running and vacuum attached to FPR.

If the fuel pressure test ''Passed'' , consider a new MAF, and a clean throttle body.

Goes up to 63 psi key on engine off then falls to 56. 56 psi idleing and when you hit the throttle it goes up to 62 psi I tried a different Crank sensor today also but still same. I tried a MAF off another good running car today and it didn't change. I cleaned TB and IAC also.

56 to 62 is too high. You may want to check for a kinked return line to the tank or a fuel pressure regulator that is stuck shut. Too much fuel pressure will result in an over-rich condition and will bog the motor. Do you have a hand-held vacuum pump that you can test the regulator with? Also, how long since a tune-up, and what brand/part number plugs are in it now?

I wil check out the return line tomorrow. When I unplug the regulator the pressure will go up and come down when plugged back in.

I pulled the new convertor off and it was all plugged looked melted put another convertor on and it ran great for a hour and then did it again. Has anyone had a problem with these burning up the convertors like this? Thanks

are you losing coolant, or did you have a problem in the past with intake gaskets leaking coolant?

Haven't had any intake problems yet and coolant hasn't been dropping any.

The next step I would take is to check long and short fuel trim readings with a scan tool. I find it hard to believe that you've burnt up 2 converters this fast, and it's not setting any codes. Are the converters new or used?

Rich he could be overfueling from the high pressure causing the converters to overheat and melt. I'd check into the fuel return line, and then check pressure again with the engine running. Then unhook the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator to see if fuel pressure jumps up with the line disconnected. If not, your regulator may be suspect.

yeah Tim, that's why I suggested the fuel trim readings. I'm still amazed that if this is the case, it never tripped a rich mixture/ cat efficiency code.

Also, he mentioned it post 7 that the fuel pressure goes up with the FPR vacuum disconnected, and back down when reconnected, so it's an odd one for sure!

I hooked it up to a AFIT today and got these readings.

Balance Cyl 1 -1.8 Cyl 2 -1.9 Cyl 3 +.6 Cyl 4 -.3 Cyl 5 +1.5
Cyl 6 +3.9 All the plugs looked the same none are fueled at all. The cats I have been putting on are new from from Napa.

Someone said these readings are too high. Sure, it changes when the vacuum line is connected or disconnected, but if too high? Perhaps the FPR is bad.
