Tapping sound

I hear a tapping sound when I accelerate and especially when I'm driving at an incline. What could be the cause?

Also, what kind of oil do I use? and what type of spark plugs should I use? I have a 2004 Lincoln LS V8.

Are you using 91+ octane gasoline? If not, then there's your problem. If you are, then you may have some water in your tank. Try a different gas station.

5w20 or 0w20. It must be at least a synthetic blend. Full synthetic is even better.

Use the OEM plugs only.

Re: Tapping sound

How many miles is on the Lincoln LS Y2K4?
Try a little octane boost, it could be just bad gas.

Wink Re: Tapping sound

Thx for the info. I will definitely try a different gas station when I fill-up again and try the octane booster. Also, my mileage is about 84k.
