WIP: 1979 Argentine GP winner - Laffite's JS11
Here's my second attempt at an F1 car.
Just building OOTB with some additional details. ![]() Only work done so far is the body. I mated the nose so I could fill the seams and scribe new lines. Same with the base to the top half of the body. I'll need to get creative to get the firewall put in place! ;D Went ahead and opened the grills, attached most of the parts together and rescribed the panel lines (grill covers, nose assembly, lower half of body). Decals by F'artefice - I tested a #25 on a test body painted TS23 and the white is very opaque. There should be no issues with coverage. Body in white primer. ![]() Engine and headers ready for primer and paint. ![]() Decals complete. Went on fine with a little persuasion from my friends Set and Sol. ![]() ![]() Underside covered in Metalizer Aluminum. SG black painted by brush for the fiberglass look. ![]() Tire lettering painted with Tamiya Flat White Acrylic then weathered with Tamiya soot and smoke. ![]() Seat and valve covers were coated in faux suede and then painted. Brakes were detailed with Alclads and Metalizers. ![]() Lots more painted, but most are quite UNinteresting. ![]() Should have more worthy updates in the next week or so. Erick -- |

Re: WIP: 1979 Argentine GP winner - Laffite's JS11
Nice finish so far, the F1 cars of the 70's and 80's have so much more character and individuality than today's computer designed clones.
If you were to put many of today's cars in a line up in primer grey you would be hard pushed to ID them all correctly, whereas even in primer grey , this is unashamedly a Ligier. |
