Hey Guys,
I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute 3.0L V6 with about 117K miles and I've been hearing a wierd noise lately. I'm noticing this 'clunk' noise that seems to occur when I accelerate from stopped. I think it's coming from the rear, but I'm not 100% sure. This doesn't happen every time though, it's almost hard to judge when it will happen. It seems that it usually happens with a slightly hard acceleration from being stopped--not a very hard acceleration and not very smooth. I tried to record the sound, but it's too hard to pick up (too much ambient noise like wind). Any ideas on what could be causing this? |

Re: Wierd 'clunk' noise from Mazda Tribute
Try checking the universal joints on the drive shaft ASAP, you don't want to drop a drive shaft.

I'm not sure what is going on with it, it seems to be getting worse
I'm bringing it to a mechanic asap

Re: Wierd 'clunk' noise from Mazda Tribute
Took it to a mechanic... turns out it's the motor mount... $325 for the parts and $100 for labor :/
