Ford to dodge

Currently have an 03 FX4 stepside with the 5.4,3.55 gears on 17's.The truck has 250,000 Kms now but hasn't given me any troubles other than regular maintenance.I was quite impressed with the truck and was considering going to an 06 or newer ford but the Hemi has made my eyes pop.I need the full 4 doors and 6.5' box for the 5th wheel camper.I'm quite satisfied with the gas milage with the ford and the newer fords seem to do better but what I want to know is how the hemi compares with the 5.4 in ford for economy.I know power wise its better but if economy is the same then I will be happy. How about MDS is it better with it or just a marketing tool?I would be happy with a 05 dodge if the MDS is just all hype.

Re: Ford to dodge

the difference isn't that great. An F-150 5.4 2WD gets 15/19, 4WD will get 14/18. It's pretty much the same with the HEMI; it all depends on how you drive it. The key to MDS is the type of oil you use. You MUST use 5W-20 with MDS equipped HEMIs or you won't notice a difference in fuel mileage. The HEMI 1500 actually tows more than a F-150, but the F-150 has a better payload capacity.
