Difference between a 5.3L and 6.0L

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the difference between a 5.3 from a 6.0 just by looking at the engine? Or are there some casting numbers located on the block so I can tell? I can't go of VIN and the RPO code list is missing. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't tell what engine that this one is. Does anyone know any physical differences or casting numbers and locations?

LM7 IS THE 5.3L LQ4 6.OL ..

WITH no vin/rpo look for driverside , very rear of head numbers are stamped there for engine ID. then you will have to decode this 8 digit code number.

Re: Difference between a 5.3L and 6.0L

Well I did find out that in fact this engine is a 5.3L. In case anyone wants to know for future reference the last three digits of the head casting number are a give away of what engine you have as long as you are trying to find between 4.8/5.3 and 6.0. If you look on the passenger side of the engine at the front bottom of the head there you find the last 3 digits. 12561706 and 12569862 are head numbers for a 4.8 and 5.3 engine. 12561873 and 12562317 are for a 6.0. In my case the head was marked 706... I obtained this information from this site which is pretty helpful.
