Ferrari 312T2 (1977) Tameo 1:43

This is my first 1:43 build...I build almost all scales but I forgot 1:43 I saw some some WIP about Tameo kits and I wanted to try this detailed gems. This is the WTC series the most detailed one. Here you see all the photo etch parts.

After all the 1:8 stuff I must get used to this size  Here is the engine next to a 0.8 mm drill.

This kit does not contain wiring or cables but I want to detail these too. So I have to drill 12 0.2 mm holes for the spark plugs

The brake discs consist of 3 separate parts

Gearbox (5 by 5 mm)

For an easy build-up of the engine I soldered a stand.

Start of the build-up of the engine

The biggest job was making the trumpets with the mesh. The mesh is not included so I bought it separately.
It was a brain crusher how to make these 1mm mesh spheres but this is my solution

folding the mesh around the pin head makes a sphere

this is the result

Here you can see the trumpets on the engine

The quality of the pictures are mediocre due to the the fact that the engine is 3 centimeters long. Also the color is not correct...it looks like a lumb of gold

That looks amazing, the level of detail is great for such a small size

Wow Tony! looking very impressive already; I've been thinking about a Tameo 1976 Lauda/Hunt build for several years now but can't drag myself away from 1/24th scale. keep it up; I'll be following.
Cheers,
Lee

Nice!!! Love all the photoetch in those kits. Good job on the wiring... I like the wire looms. It must be a shock on yours eyes going from 1/8 to 1/43rd. I imagine it would be easier the other way around.

Sweet and well done!

Funnily enough, I have just started my first ever 1/43 kit also. I am starting with a simpler Renaissance kit though

Thank you guys! A magnifier is a must, but steady hands ( no alcohol, pills, crack etc) are indispensable :-)

@Lee: give it a try! When you have done such a project you have at the end better and more skills for your " normal" scale !

@Klutz: You started a nice project ....progress pictures ? :-)

I now have a vision of hundreds of crack-taking, pill-popping, drink-swigging modellers suddenly realising where they've been going wrong all these years! I'll stick to tea and coffee, though...

That's some impressive progress there, Tony - looking good. I don't think I'll be trying any 1:43 projects myself, though - too fiddly for me! Those mesh trumpets are brilliant - one of those real 'lightbulb' moments....and your engine stands makes me smile every time.

Keep it going,

SB

That is probably the reason why we see so little 1/43 building

Please stick to these wonderful brilliant 1/8 projects.....that is much more fun for us followers

Re: Ferrari 312T2 (1977) Tameo 1:43

Oh, I love to see these. One of my modelling buddies has done some 1/43 and they look fantastic, he tried to talk me into it because of the subject matter which is covered so much more than other scales.
I simply don't have the skill do do them justice, you are a very brave (and skilled) man Sir.
Regards,
Steve.

Re: Ferrari 312T2 (1977) Tameo 1:43

Wow Ton,
To go from 1/8 to 1/43 is quite a jump. That drivetrain looks great man. You've sworn off the wrong beverage though. Coffee and tea give you the shakes. Surgeons don't drink coffee. No experience with crack so can't comment there...ha,ha.

I have several of the WCT's and will one day start on one. There are just sooo maaany models that will be fun to build. And, yes I must admit I find them a bit intimidating. One thing a friend that builds 1/43 mentioned that you may find interesting. He said after building in 1/43 for a while, even 1/24th seemed positively HUGE! I can imagine going back to 1/8th would be like building a real car. I guess maybe it's like baseball batters warming up on deck with a weight on their bat?
