aluminum valve cover for the rear of a 2000 3.8 ????

I bought the upgrade cover for the front but what did these aluminum covers come from and if from another car would the breather hole be in it for that tube that goes by the MAF sensor?

Hate,

I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but if it's the "new style" valve cover gasket that was part of the recall, it should be a direct fit. The hole is there in mine and mine is a new style. I believe that the only change was the addition of a baffle under the PCV valve. (I might be wrong on this).

If this is what you're referring to, cool. If not, expand a little and I'll see if I can help.

I don't believe that an upgraded rear valve cover was ever designed. The rear cover doesn't have any openings that I remember.

The upgrade was a improved baffel in the front valve cover for the PCV valve location to reduce the amount of oil droplets that are pulled into the motor through the PCV system.
It IS normal for some oil to be present through the PCV system, but the old style valve cover used in 1999 and 2000 permitted more oil to get through.

The rear valve cover was not changed and only has the hole for the breather, air passes from the flexible hose between the air filter and the throttle body through a plastic tube that connects to the rear valve cover.

Take note that the PCV valve is in the front valve cover from 1999 and newer.
The PCV valve was in the rear valve cover , with the breather in the front valve cover in 1998 and older.

So do 2001-up have a rear aluminum valve cover? I know it isn't a upgrade over mine but just want an aluminum cover for the rear of the engine now so they both match.

Why not just buy some black engine paint and spray the new cover to match the other one? That's what I did, although you can't really see the rear cover when looking from the front.

Because I have the other one off anyways to change a broken valve spring. So figured now is the time to put an aluminum cover on that side.
