Service Engine Soon light on
I got a service engine soon light on and I took it to my friend and he put it on the portable machine he bought at auto zone. came up with a code of P0442, emissions leak (small). i know im grasping at straws, but where can that be. i have noticed lately that the gas consumption has been high lately. is that something to do with it? any suggestions are deeply appreciated. thanks. obtw, its an 2003 s-10 pickup. thanks.

P0442 is in fact a small leak in EVAP system. By "Small leak", it means that it's a leak that is .030" or smaller! Very difficult to locate without expensive equipment. You might get lucky by replacing the fuel filler cap, then clear the codes and drive the vehicle. If the code returns, it will need to be properly diagnosed and repaired.
