2002 Caravan weird problem: Lost Blower, wipers, and radio at the same time...
I am a mechanic, and I will be testing a variety of things on this problem, but I was hoping someone experienced this with their experience...
Of course at the worst time of the year, last night, I lost my wipers, the blower and the radio all at once... I put rain x on the window and I made it home, halfway through, the radio came back on, and so did everything else... When I pulled up to my house, they all went off again... When the problem occurred, I decided to try other things and everything worked... The only weird thing is that the radio would briefly turn on when I turned on the rear wiper, however it would turn off whenever the wiper reached the "park" position; so while the rear wiper is on, the radio would go on and off while operating... This part doesn't seem like anything more than electrical feedback and I don't consider it a big deal... Now losing the wipers, blower and radio IS a BIG deal... Besides checking fuses, where should I start? Anyone with actual experience with this problem??? I can't imagine that only my van is screwed up like this... I was thinking that possibly the salt and snow is helping or hurting with conductivity so I was gonna get a car wash to start with, then check the fuses... Is there a schematic where all three items can show me what powers them up? Thanks Mike |

Re: 2002 Caravan weird problem: Lost Blower, wipers, and radio at the same time...
I needed a new ignition switch which fixed this problem. Sounds exactly like what happened with my Voyager.
If it's not the ignition switch it could be a bad ground. But I would check the ignition switch first (though I can't give you more details because I took the car to my "guy"). |
