03 trail blazer when put in 4wd it goes back toauto4wd

Hard to understand this post, go back and try clarify your question. Are you saying you replaced the transfer case?

every time i put into 4wd it goes back to auto 4wd it locks all 4 wheel . 4wdlo goes ok and 2wd ok but every time put into 4wdhi it goes back to auto4wd. replaced encoder motor

I would replace the dash slector switch, GM had problems with them, mine was replaced on my 2002

lost 4wd ,...that was the first thing i replace from gm is the dash switch. replace encoder motor from junk yard with 1 year warrenty, that did not work. so i drain fluid to find minute metal,pulled transfer case found clutch thrush bearing wiped out clutches worn,ect.replaced transfer case and now 4wd drive works but went i put selector switch in 4wd position the encoder motor makes noise and light flashes on switch then light comes on auto4wd on selector switch even though switch is in 4wd position 4wd is working while in that mode. all other selections work fine?

problem fixed.. i think what happened is the t-case was dry. i tried it in my drive way. it has an oil pump so i drove it 4=5 miles at speed then i tried 4wd and it works fine now . i think it might have been binding a little becuse o f no lube. thanks for reply
