1992 Ford Explorer Battery Problem

Hey, first post here. I have a 92 ford explorer, running reasonably well but I didn't need to use it for about a month. I just drove it to go get gas and it was fine but then it wouldn't start back up. I took out the battery and got it recharged (after jumping failed, and the parts place says the battery is definitely fine) and it still wont start. The problem seems to be purely electronical, not with the engine.

After setting the battery back up, I get door lights and inside lights, but as soon as I turn the key to aux the power just cuts out, obviously doesn't even make it to attempting to start if I turn the key further. I'm not particularly car savvy so thats why I'm here, any help is much appreciated!

You might try shifting in to Neutral and try starting it. It could be that the park/neutral safety switch is faulty. Beyond that you're probably going to need to get out the test light or multimeter and starting checking for voltage at correct times in correct places.
