heater hoses

when you guys say reverse heater core hoses can you let them like that? or do you have to change them back around .and does this clean out core? thanks wayne its a 99 dodge 1500 5.2l

Sorry for the delay Wayne.

I haven't found sediment in most vehicles unless some sort of stop leak compound has been added, which you really don't want to disturb until you're ready to replace the heater core.

Some folks have had some success switching the coolant hoses to reverse flow and possibly dislodge sediment.

At your own risk, another trick is kinda risky because these heater cores are not built very sturdy.
Disconnect both heater hoses from the engine, connect a garden hose to one heater hose, turn on a little water and flush sediment out. Do not restrict the other hose in any way or you risk blowing out the heater core.
Low pressure air/10psi with some water poured into the line you're gonna shoot air into will dislodge sediment too.
