Re: 2001 silhouette dim headlights
Same as my 2003 Venture. I swapped the lamps for the 100/65 watt version and installed new bezels all around. Made a little difference. Still not super bright but better than before.

Re: 2001 silhouette dim headlights
I think you'll find the problem is not a dim bulb.
All the GM sisters (Montana, Silouette and Venture) had/have the same fault. The plastic lenses are very short lived. There are after-market kits that help clean up the foggy lenses but they don't last long and new after-market headlamps are quite expensive.

Re: 2001 silhouette dim headlights
I bought new lens assemblies for about $100 for the set. Then switched to HID lights with a kit from ebay. Replaced the factory fog lights with better bulbs. Now I can see like it was daytime.

Re: 2001 silhouette dim headlights
The prices keep getting better and better from a variety of sources it seems. Several years back the only option was to pay nearly $200 for each front lens housing alone--only to have them fog up inside again within the year.
My son has done the same thing to his Honda Civic with one extra touch--he drilled small holes in the top rear of the housings. This has let the moisture evaporate it seems so we did the same to the van's headlights. One bulb had been starting to fog up but the hole prevents that now. The other still seems to fog from time to time, but not very much and it clears quickly now. As far as the HID bulb kits--wow! I'll never use an incandescent bulb again. I can finally see normally at night in the van.

Yes, these are now $27/each from Rockauto.com. $65 for the pair delivered to my door. I'll be installing them tonight.
